This article by David Roberts at VOX takes issue with the attacks on Hillary Clinton, and the Democratic Party, for the emphasis in her campaign on "identity politics." What did the voters hear?

All political campaigns involve identity politics, whether you admit it or not. Republicans and Democrats alike try to appeal to groups and group identities. However, what you say to appeal to those groups and what people hear may be different.
